A horrifying episode has come to light in Maharashtra, where a godman has been detained by the police authorities on allegations of raping a woman in the guise of a tantrik ritual. The victim was facing health issues and family problems for some time. She decided to approach the godman for help, but he exploited her vulnerability. Subsequently, he raped her under the pretext of a tantrik ritual.

The Santacruz police in Mumbai arrested a fraudulent tantrik for allegedly raping a 32-year-old woman under the pretext of carrying out tantrik rituals to free her from evil spirits.
The woman had been suffering from health issues and family problems when she decided to approach the godman seeking help. The self-styled godman manipulated her into believing that she was surrounded by evil spirits and that she had been possessed by them. The tantrik mentioned that only a tantrik ritual could free her from these spirits.
The fraud tantrik has been identified as Abdul Rashid, who is 45 years old. The police took him into custody on Wednesday.
According to the police, the tantrik tricked her when he tried to convince the victim to undergo such a ritual earlier this month. During the ritual ceremony, he allegedly raped the woman. In the beginning, the woman believed that it was some part of the treatment. Later, she realised that she had been deceived.
When the victim realised that she had been raped under the pretext of exorcism, she rushed to the Santacruz Police and lodged a complaint.
Tantrik Booked Under Rape & Anti-Superstition Law:
Based on the statement given by the victim, police booked Abdul Rashid under Section 64 and 64 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rape. The Santacruz Police also invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil, and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
A tip-off was received by the officers based on which they apprehended the accused on Wednesday.
