Violence erupted in Uttarakhand’s Kashipur on the night of 21st September. The incident was triggered by the ‘I love Mohammad’ procession, which was taken out without administrative permission. During the procession, youths attacked the police, leaving one police constable injured in the stone pelting.

On Sunday night, a procession suddenly turned violent in Kashipur’s Udham Singh Nagar. A large crowd of young members from the Muslim community was carrying placards reading “I Love Mohammad” during the procession. The situation escalated into violence quickly. The police warnings were ignored by the rioters, who acted aggressively. The angry mob pelted stones at a police vehicle, shattering the vehicle’s windshield.
Upon receiving the information about the violence, the police rushed to the spot. They used baton charges to disperse the crowd, following which a tense calm returned in the area.
The incident started when the procession was held without permission from the administration. When the unruly youths started pelting stones at the police, a constable got injured, and the windshield of a police vehicle was smashed. The injured constable was rushed to the hospital for treatment, and his condition was reported as stable.
In order to bring the situation under control, the police station was informed, which deployed additional police officers under the leadership of CO Deepak Singh. After a baton charge, the angry mob got dispersed.
Police forces from Kashipur and nearby areas have been called in to prevent the situation from worsening and maintain vigilance.
A Strict Action Against Rioters:
According to SP Abhay Singh, the procession was taken out by a young boy named Nadeem Akhtar without taking any permission from the administration. Abhay added that an investigation has begun, considering the seriousness of the situation.
The video footage has played a vital role in identifying the rioters. The interrogations remain ongoing. Singh confirmed that strict action will be taken against those who are involved in this matter to maintain law and order.
Police have increased surveillance in the region and are preparing to take strict measures against all those who are responsible.
