The Bear is set to come out with its 4th installment and it seems to be coming with a new set of challenges and more baggage than ever before.
FX‘s critically acclaimed culinary drama starring Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri is returning on 25 June with its highly anticipated new season. In the trailer which dropped on Wednesday, the kitchen seems to be running against a “funding clock” that will decide the restaurants future however, combating this will not be easy as their personal lives seem to be closing in on them: Carmen’s mother returns, Natalie is caught up with a newborn and Sydney cannot keep up with the Berzzato’s haphazard ways of getting things done.
As The Bear starts drawing attention, vicious restaurant critics start weighing in with some calling the restaurant inconsistent. Amidst the chaos, however, there is light: Carmen decides to change his ways, tries to make their process “calmer” and not let turmoil fuel it, Tina and Ebra try to work out a system while also deepening their longstanding friendship, and there are signs of a potential nuptial.
The Bear centres on Carmen Berzatto, a talented but underachieving chef who is hampered by having to rebuild his brother’s restaurant following his unexpected suicide. The show not only sheds light on the cut-throat nature of the job but also on the love, community and support that can be found in the kitchen as the chef discovers that “There is one really true thing about restaurants. You are never alone.”
The show won the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy Series 2023-24 and three Emmys in 2024.
