Maddock Films is all set with its new adventure in its horror comedy universe with Thama. Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Directed by Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar. The makers unveiled the trailer recently, promising a Diwali 2025 release.
The trailer begins with Nawazuddin as the antagonist Yakshasan, a vampire who turns against humans despite being created to protect them. After centuries of imprisonment, he encounters Ayushmann’s character Alok, who represents humanity’s last hope.
Rashmika enters as Taraka, attempting to reunite Alok with his destiny. While the visuals are striking and Maddock’s signature chaos is intact, many viewers on social media pointed out the absence of visible chemistry between the lead pair.
Adding to the buzz, Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya also makes a cameo appearance, reinforcing the Maddock universe that includes Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya.
Before the trailer, the makers had teased audiences with a mystical teaser, featuring Ayushmann asking Rashmika, “Will you be able to live without me for 100 years?” to which she responds, “Not even for a moment.”
The teaser also highlighted Nawazuddin’s menacing presence and a special dance performance by Malaika Arora, staying true to Maddock’s signature mix of scares and spectacle.
Thama could prove to be a decisive turning point in Ayushmann’s career graph, especially after his last releases like Dream Girl 2, An Action Hero, Doctor G, Anek, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, which unfortunately turned out to be back-to-back setbacks in his filmography.
His fans have been eagerly awaiting his grand return to the silver screen, and now the Bala actor is back with Thama, where he steps into a larger-than-life avatar, assembling his vampire powers to save the world.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thama is all set to release on October 21, 2025.
Although the audience gave mixed responses to the trailer, the pairing of Ayushmann and Rashmika promises a refreshing presence on the silver screen, fueling the anticipation for Maddock’s horror-comedy universe.
