Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala – June 2025:
A woman in Kerala has been arrested for cheating at least ten men by pretending to marry them and then stealing their gold and valuables. The police say she used different names and fake identities to trap her victims.
She would meet men through marriage proposals, convince them and their families that she was ready to get married, and soon after the wedding, she would disappear—taking jewellery and cash with her. In some cases, she even had formal or registered marriages.
The police started investigating after receiving multiple complaints from different parts of Kerala. Each man told a similar story—how the woman married them, won their trust, and then ran away with their gold and other valuable items just days after the wedding.
After checking the complaints and gathering evidence, police found that the same woman was behind all the cases. They tracked her down and arrested her earlier this week. During the arrest, they recovered several sets of gold ornaments, which are now being checked and matched with the victims’ complaints.
The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be in several lakhs. Police believe she might not have acted alone and are checking if other people helped her, including agents or those who arranged the marriages.
This case has shocked many in Kerala and raised concerns about how easily people can be tricked through marriage offers. Police are advising everyone to be careful while fixing marriages—especially through online platforms or unknown sources. Families are urged to do proper background checks before moving ahead.
The investigation is still going on, and more victims may come forward. The police plan to file a detailed report and take the case to court soon.
