On the first day of Navratri, Yash Raj Films officially announced Mardaani 3, the third installment of Rani Mukerji’s much-loved crime-thriller franchise. Apart from the announcement, the makers also unveiled a poster, setting the tone for yet another chapter in ACP Shivani Shivaji Roy’s journey.
The announcement was made by official Yash Raj Films’ social media account, which expressed that on the occasion of Day 1 of Navratri, we celebrate the victory of good over evil. With the wishes, the production house announces the return of cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3, who is going to investigate the most challenging case of her career.
The poster featured a tense close-up of Rani’s hand gripping a black handgun, angled against a blurred police barricade marked “Delhi Police,” signaling the intensity of the story to come.
Directed by Abhiraj Minawala, Mardaani 3 promises to push Shivani into her toughest investigation yet. As per media reports, the new installment, as “dark, deadly, and brutal,” is expected to deliver another power-packed performance in a role that has become one of her career’s highlights.
The franchise was launched in 2014, and it first introduced audiences to ACP Shivani in a gripping tale of human trafficking. The film also marked Tahir Raj Bhasin’s debut. Five years later, Mardaani 2 (2019) saw Shivani take on a chilling psychopath, played by Vishal Jethwa; both films received acclaim and commercial success.
Rani Mukerji was last seen in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway (2023), which secured her the National Film Award, which she will receive on September 23 in Delhi. Beyond Mardaani 3, reportedly, she is also set to appear in Shah Rukh Khan’s King, alongside Deepika Padukone and Jaideep Ahlawat.
With less than a year and a half until release, Mardaani 3 has already sparked anticipation. Fans are eager to see Rani Mukerji once again as Shivani Shivaji Roy. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 27, 2026.
