The Cannes film festival 2025 has officially kicked off, and among the most anticipated arrivals this year was Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who touched down in France with daughter Aaradhya by her side. The mother and daughter duo were spotted at the Nice airport, receiving a warm welcome from fans and media alike.
In videos circulating online, Aishwarya is seen wearing a long navy trench coat while her daughter is sporting a black one. The two greeted a man at the airport before making their way to a car waiting for them. As expected, their arrival quickly caught attention online, with fans reacting emotionally, “She’s back”, “Finally”, and “Queen” summed up much of the mood.
This isn’t the first time Aaradhya has accompanied her mother to Cannes, and Aishwarya has previously shared why it has become a tradition. In a past conversation with Film Companion, she opened up about how important togetherness is during this event. According to her, Aaradhya mostly likes it because for her it’s about being together with her mother and now she has become familiar with the festival and its people, traveling with her mother to Cannes also gives her a chance to reconnect with old acquaintances, making the entire expierience more enjoyable for both of them.
Aishwarya, global face of L’Oréal Paris, is all set to grace the red carpet this year as well. The 78th Cannes edition running from 14th May to 25th May is expected to see her represent India once again in grand style on 21st and 22nd May. This year is going to be the 22nd time she’ll be attending the festival. The first time she had attended the festival was in 2002 with Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the screening of Devdas, the year marked the beginning of her red carpet journey at Cannes that has spanned over two decades.
