The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan is an initiative taken by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCCD) and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) to enhance healthcare services for children and women across India. It focuses on improving awareness, quality care and access to healthcare services for children and women. Cailmed as a Jan Bhagidaari Abhiyaan, it calls on private hospitals and healthcare professionals to actively participate to foster inclusive healthcare delivery.
This campaign was inaugurated on September 17, 2025, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his 75th birthday and will run till 2nd October, 2025(Gandhi Jayanti).
As a part of this campaign, more than one lakh health camps are being organised, making it the largest health outreach ever for women and children in India.
Camps will be organised at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community health centres and other healthcare facilities, aiming to promote nutrition, health awareness and overall family well-being.
This program is a pivotal health campaign that will hopefully enhance nationwide health and sanitation drives and address critical gaps in maternal and child health, as earlier demonstrated in national health surveys.
It aligns with existing government schemes like Mission Shakti that focus on women’s safety and empowerment, and Poshan 2.0, which aims at combating malnutrition among women and children.
It aims to prioritise women’s health by providing health screening and services specific to their needs. The campaign is providing screening for conditions like dermatological concerns, hypertension, anaemia, reproductive health issues, breast and cervical cancer, diabetes, tuberculosis (TB) and sickle cell disease (SCD), along with specialised counselling in tribal areas.
The abhiyaan includes specialists like dentists, gynaecologists, and surgeons supported by district hospitals to ensure accurate diagnosis and follow-up care, addressing health disparities identified in national surveys.
