Mumbai witnessed an evening of glory on Tuesday as the 27th edition of the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) awards took place, honouring cricketing legends and emerging stars for their exceptional performances.
The spotlight on Tuesday was on former Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma, on Tuesday, received a special memento for leading Team India to two consecutive ICC trophy victories, the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy 2025. This was also Rohit Sharma’s first public appearance since he was replaced as India’s ODI captain. The fans were thrilled to see him back. Receiving the award from the Little Master Sunil Gavaskar, Rohit looked fitter and more confident than ever.
West Indies legend Brian Lara was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Expressing his gratitude, Lara said, “To be presented with this accolade at such a celebrated forum is special indeed. It feels wonderful to know that my journey in cricket continues to be remembered and cherished.”
Among the international stars, the English batter Joe Root won the International Player of the Year Award for his remarkable consistency across all formats. Another Englishman, Harry Brook, was named Men’s Test Batter of the Year. New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and Matt Henry earned the Men’s ODI Batter and ODI Bowler of the Year awards, respectively. Following his inspiring leadership in the World Test Championship 2025 final, Temba Bavuma received the Award for Exemplary Leadership.
However, the evening truly belonged to India. Sanju Samson was crowned T20 Batter of the Year. Varun Chakravarthy earned the T20I Bowler of the Year Award for his excellent bowling spells throughout the season. Harsh Dubey was recognised as the Domestic Cricketer of the Year for his phenomenal Ranji Trophy campaign. Young sensation Angkrish Raghuvanshi took home the Emerging Player of the Year Award.
In the women’s category, Smriti Mandhana bagged the Batter of the Year, and Deepti Sharma was honoured as the Bowler of the Year. Rounding off a truly memorable night for Indian cricket.
