Triple Tons Help Blackcaps Bamboozle Zimbabwe

After a terrific batting performance by Kiwi batters, it was Zakary Foulkes who got five wickets, which set up a memorable win for New Zealand.

New Zealand had a perfect end to a successful Zimbabwe tour as they routed the host in the final Test match of the series by an innings and 359 runs at Bulawayo on Saturday.

The Blackcaps declared on a massive score of 601/3, thanks to commanding centuries by Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Henry Nicholls, which made the 2021 WTC Champions gain a huge lead over the African nation.

Then it was all about survival for Zimbabwe, where they completely flunked. It was a spectacular bowling display by debutant Zakary Foulkes as he took 5 wickets while conceding just 37 runs. Matt Henry, who went on to win the Player of the Series award, also took 2 wickets in what has been a terrific series for him.

Zimbabwe were down with the bat as the whole team could score only 117 runs in the second innings as the Kiwi bowlers went all over the hosts. It was a fight for survival for the hosts, in which they failed miserably.

New Zealand had a successful tour to Zimbabwe as they first won the Tri-Series by beating South Africa in a last-over thriller in the final. It was followed by a dominating performance by the Blackcaps, even after the absence of regular captain Tom Latham. The Kiwis will hope to have a similar performance when they host the West Indies in December this year.

Meanwhile, this was the last Test match for Zimbabwe of their packed 2025 season. They will now feature in a white-ball series against Sri Lanka starting August 29.
