Telangana Presents ₹3.05 Lakh Crore Budget for 2025

The Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikaramarka unveiled his second budget, which for the first time crossed  Rs 3 lakh crore. Social justice, economic stability, and equitable development are the goals of the ₹3.05 lakh crore (₹3,04,965 crore) budget. Compared to ₹2.91 lakh crore the previous year, this represents a 5% increase. Experts view the budget as ambitious, allocating ₹2.26 lakh crore for daily government expenses and ₹36,504 crore for long-term infrastructure and development projects.

The government also unveiled two major governance themes: a ‘China+1’ strategy to develop Telangana into a global manufacturing hub and achieve industrial growth across the state by 2050, encapsulated in the Mega Master Plan 2050.

According to the budget, borrowings would primarily be responsible for the Rs 2,738 crore surplus and the Rs 54,009 crore fiscal deficit. It projected government taxes at Rs 29,899 crore, non-tax revenue at Rs 31,618 crore, tax revenue at Rs 1.45 lakh crore, and grants-in-aid at Rs 22,782 crore. The majority of the budget, roughly Rs 40,000, went to various social programmes, with SC welfare receiving the largest share.

As local bodies and panchayat elections are near, the second highest allocation went to panchayat raj (Rs 31,605 crore) and agriculture (Rs 24,439 crore), followed by education (Rs 23,108 crore). The government has tried to allocate funds to all schemes, especially those focused on residential schools and solar energy. Other significant announcements included renaming Yadadri temple as Yadagirigutta.
