Tej Pratap Launches Coalition Of Five Regional Parties

Former minister Tej Pratap Yadav announced the formation of a coalition of five minor political parties on Tuesday, 5 August 2025, for contesting the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.

The five parties include the Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janta Party (PJP), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP) and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP).

In May, Tej Pratap was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) by Lalu Prasad Yadav, his father and the party president. He announced it in a press conference at the Maurya Hotel (Kesaria Hall), Patna.

National presidents, general secretaries and other colleagues of all the parties also gave their consent in favour of the alliance. Tej Pratap Yadav outlined the alliance’s core agenda as focusing on social justice, social rights, and comprehensive transformation.

“The theme and objective of our coalition is very clear. We will move forward together in Bihar to ensure social justice, social rights, and complete transformation. If the public gives us the mandate to win, we pledge to work towards the development of Bihar. We will also work to fulfil the dreams of Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpoori, and Jai Prakash Narayan ji,” Mr. Tej Pratap said in the press conference organised in Patna.

He stated that criticism would not deter him from pursuing his political goals.“People can make fun of me, but I will tread my own path. If people will give us a mandate we will work towards the development of the state. We will work towards fulfilling the dreams of Ram Manohar Lohia, Kapoori Thakur and Jayaprakash Narayan.”

Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his son, who represented the Hasanpur assembly seat, on May 25 for six years and also snapped family ties. The expulsion reportedly followed a controversial social media post alleging a personal relationship. The post was later deleted, with Yadav stating his account had been “hacked.” Lalu Prasad cited “irresponsible behaviour” as the reason for his son’s six-year suspension from the party.

He also reiterated that he will contest the Assembly election from the Mahua seat in Vaishali district as he has worked for the people of Mahua in the past.
