The Prime Minister also praised his government’s focus on connectivity in Assam, which he said has boosted businesses and created employment opportunities for youth.
Earlier, PM Modi began his address by recalling the celebrations held a day earlier to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Bhupen Hazarika.
He launched a strong attack on the Congress, accusing it of insulting Bhupen Hazarika when he was awarded the Bharat Ratna. “The Congress chief had said, ‘Modi is giving Bharat Ratna to those who sing and dance’,” PM Modi quoted. He further alleged that Congress protected infiltrators and anti-national groups and criticised their lack of development initiatives.
“Congress ruled Assam for decades, but they built only 3 bridges over the Brahmaputra river, while we constructed six in the last 10 years,” the Prime Minister said. He accused Congress of siding with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor and supporting infiltrators and anti-national forces.
“For its politics, Congress stands with every person and thought that is against India. We saw this even during Operation Sindoor. Today, when our Army carries out Operation Sindoor and uproots terror hideouts across Pakistan, Congress chooses to side with Pakistan’s Army. Instead of standing with our forces, Congress furthers the agenda of those who shelter terrorists,” he alleged.
He added that the BJP has begun to “correct those wrongs and remove illegal claims,” accusing Congress of encroaching on farmers’ land and places of worship during their rule.
