Kremlin Reviews Plans To Modernise Russian Legal System

President Vladimir Putin received Justice Minister Konstantin Chuychenko at the Kremlin on Tuesday, July 22, to consider suggestions regarding how to make Russia’s judiciary more streamlined. The primary aim is for all people to be able to have access to the courts, get a fair trial, and that technology to help the system so it has no issues.

Putin asked for the functioning of the justice system, availability to the people, uniformity of the court decisions, and expediency in cases. Chuychenko mentioned the initiatives to simplify the paperwork and be able to obtain legal assistance online. Among the goals that they set is to enable people to access the court documents and decisions easily.

Putin was worried about unequal application of legal norms and emphasised the importance of enhancing the legal support system and court work. He went on to say that people and companies depend on good legal systems to feel comfortable with their ventures. Putin quoted entrepreneurs he had listened to say that this was a priority if Russia was going to have a healthy economy.

The Justice Minister launched the plans to simplify court processes and to mechanise courts. This involves artificial intelligence being employed to write documents and perform the trivial administrative work, computerising the judicial process. He talked about how AI would reduce processing time for most bureaucratic tasks and how the prosecutors and courts are collaborating to hasten criminal cases.

They also discussed increasing legal awareness, establishing public trust in the justice system, and extending legal aid to individuals who are far away. Putin described how numerous individuals were struggling to get access to basic information domestically. They agreed that technology could help them with everything and committed to investing more in internet-based legal services. All the issues they discussed were interconnected.

In short, Putin reiterated the role of the justice system to be there for the people, pointing out that they have to be more open and predictable if Russia is to improve overall. The court needs to make sure that it puts the people first in earnest if they are to gain the trust of ordinary Russian citizens.
