Thanks to fine half-centuries by nightwatchman Akash Deep, Washington Sundar, and Ravindra Jadeja, India has set up a 374-run target for the hosts. Siraj took Crawley’s wicket to end the day as the series is set for an epic showdown.
The Anderson-Tendulkar trophy 2025 has been a series to remember. With England now needing 324 more runs to win on the fourth day of the final Test at The Oval, we may get the result of this series today itself.
The day started with an overnight stand of 107 runs between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep as the nightwatchman notched up his maiden half-century of his Test career. Meanwhile, Jaiswal smacked his second ton of this series, scoring 118 runs in difficult batting conditions.
India was in a spot of bother when they lost Karun Nair and a set Dhruv Jurel, but it was Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar who slammed fifties to swell India’s lead over 370 runs. Washington Sundar struck 4 sixes during his innings.

Chasing a target of 374, the English openers got a nervy 50-run stand. But it was Mohammad Siraj who broke it by bowling a pinpoint yorker to send back Zak Crawley. Crawley’s wicket also meant the end of the day’s play, leaving England with 324 runs to chase down in the next 2 days.
With the match most probably ending on day 4, England would need their in-form middle order to recreate the Headingly Test match performance to win the Test match and also to win the series by 3-1, whereas the Indian bowlers will look to make use of the new ball early to grab a few wickets in the morning session and to eventually win the encounter.
The stage is set for the day 4 madness.
