A Class 9th student brutally stabbed his senior, who studied in Class 10th in Ahmedabad’s Khokhra. The victim succumbed to his injuries. The horrifying incident triggered widespread protests and violence within the school premises on Wednesday morning. The victim’s parents and locals stormed onto the campus and damaged furniture and glass panels. However, the accused has been detained by the police.
Detailed Information:
A class 10th student was stabbed by his junior from Class 9th in the Seventh Day Adventist School in Ahmedabad. On Tuesday afternoon, the school bell rang, marking the end of the day. The victim, Nayan, packed his bags and set out for home. When he stepped out of the building, the accused from Class 9th, along with a few other boys, surrounded him. An argument broke out between them, which turned into physical violence.
The accused pulled out a knife and brutally attacked Nayan, following which he fled.
According to the CCTV footage, Nayan was seen walking into the school with his hand covering his abdominal wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Maninagar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The accused was trying to escape through the back of the building. However, he was caught by the security guard, who informed the school administration and the police about it. Initially, a case had been registered against the accused for attempt to murder, and he had been apprehended by the police. The charges against the accused have now been changed to murder.
The police officials have recorded the statements of the students who were present at the time when the violence broke out.
The Incident Triggered Protests And Violence:
On Wednesday morning, a large crowd gathered at the Seventh Day Adventist School to protest against the crime. The protests escalated within a few minutes; meanwhile, the angry parents and locals barged into the premises and damaged the furniture and glass panels.
A violent mob damaged the school property and assaulted the school staff. The police officers were deployed to bring the situation under control. A police jeep came close to being overturned amid the violent protests.
According to the police, the dispute between the accused and the victim was due to personal reasons and not due to any other issue. The dispute began last week, when Nayan’s cousin and the accused clashed on the premises. According to the victim’s parents, the accused had a record of violent behaviour, and the school did not take any action despite being informed earlier.
No staff member helped Nayan while he was lying injured within the premises. It was Nayan’s parents who rushed him to a nearby hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
