Supreme Court’s Order On Stray Dogs:
On 22 August 2025, the Supreme Court modified its earlier verdict passed by a two-judge bench on 11 August 2025, according to which all the street dogs of Delhi-NCR were to be removed and relocated to dog shelters.
But, the three-judge bench that comprised Justice Vikram Nath, Justice NV Anjaria, and Justice Sandeep Mehta ruled that only the street dogs that are aggressive in nature or are rabid would be sent to the shelter facilities. The dogs that were picked up for vaccination and sterilisation will be released and sent back to their original localities after the completion of the process.
Directions Given For Dog Feeders:
The court has prohibited feeding the stray dogs publicly. They can only be fed at the specifically designated locations, which will be created. An action will be taken against those who are found to be feeding the street dogs on the roads.
Highlighting the matter that was earlier confined only to Delhi-NCR has now been expanded all across the nation.
