Digha: Marking a historic milestone in the martial arts landscape of the state, the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal, under the aegis of INDIA Taekwondo, successfully hosted the 2025 National Kyorugi Seminar & Refresher Course at Jyotsna International Hotel, Digha, from 9th to 12th June 2025—the first-ever event of its kind in West Bengal.
This nationally recognised seminar brought together 51 participants, including referees, coaches, and practitioners from across the country. The program aimed to elevate technical proficiency, reinforce standardised officiating practices, and align Indian Taekwondo professionals with the evolving framework of World Taekwondo (WT) regulations.
The intensive course was conducted by Senior Master Amit Aggarwal, a highly respected World Taekwondo International Referee (Class 1) and an acclaimed educator. He led participants through comprehensive theoretical sessions and hands-on practical demonstrations, focusing on the latest WT Kyorugi rules, electronic scoring mechanisms, and match management protocols. His expert training was instrumental in ensuring that attendees gained critical insights and practical skills required for national and international-level competitions.

The seminar was further dignified by the esteemed presence of Taekwondo Legend Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy, General Secretary of the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal and a revered figure in Indian Taekwondo. In his inspirational address, Grand Master Roy underscored the need for continuous learning, technical advancement, and professionalism within the sport to meet global standards.
Among the distinguished guests were Sk. Habibur Rahaman, Chairman of the District Primary School Council (DPSC), Purba Medinipur & Co-Mentor of the Purba Medinipur Zila Parishad; Shri Kaushik Barik, President, Ramnagar 1 Block; Pioneer Taekwondo Personality Senior Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury; Shri Rajib Bera, President, Purba Medinipur Taekwondo Association; and senior officials, local leaders, and members of the Taekwondo fraternity. Their support and encouragement highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between sport bodies and local governance in nurturing taekwondo talent.
The success of the 2025 National Kyorugi Seminar & Refresher Course not only reflects the growing stature of West Bengal as a hub for Taekwondo excellence but also strengthens its position within the national Taekwondo ecosystem. With initiatives like this, the state continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of technically skilled and globally competitive Taekwondo professionals.
