Mumbai police arrested two Indonesian citizens who have been identified as Budi Wiyono and Rakhmat Ardi Hidayat at Jogeshwari. The suspects were informed of their rights under Section 50 of the NDPS act and the arresting team was led by Senior Inspector Pritam Banawali who executed the raid and sealed the contraband on spot
On Friday 27th June 2025 at around 1015pm Budi Wiyono and Rakhmat Ardi Hidayat were arrested during the Oshiwara Police and DCP Zone 9 led raid at a hotel in Jogeshwari West Mumbai.
The arrest is believed to be a part of a larger international trafficking ring. The arresting officers were allegedly acting based on a tip-off and they seized 21.55 Kgs of high grade hydrophobic cannabis which has a street value of upto 21.5 Cr. Multiple similar busts have taken place in the last few months which underscores a long ongoing trends of traffic routes of hydrophobic cannabis. However the recent bust calls into suspicion a question about potential collusion with insiders at airport check points.
Authorities believe the drugs originated from Thailand and entered through Malaysia before reaching Mumbai indicating possibility of cross border syndicate links. This case stands out because of the size of the haul and questions about cross border mafias and vulnerabilities within the customs system.
