A recent statement by a Pakistani senator regarding Ayodhya and Babri Masjid has sparked controversy and attracted media attention.
Palwasha Mohammad Zai Khan, a Pakistani Senator, made comments regarding Ayodhya, stating that the “first brick of the new Babri mosque” will be laid by Pakistan’s army. This comment was made on 29th April during her speech in Pakistan’s upper house and has stirred quite a bit of discussion.
According to her speech, “That day is not far, when the first brick to rebuild Babri Masjid will be laid by a common soldier from Pindi, and the first call to prayer will be given by Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir”. She also added that people of Pakistan are not wearing bangles, a popular term that essentially means retaliation would be there if provoked from India’s side.
The senator who was giving her speech in Urdu started by saying that the situation is in such a manner that India would soon have a Muslim government. “Judging from current circumstances, it appears that Allah is creating the means for the establishment of a Muslim government—specifically a Pakistani Muslim government—in the Indian subcontinent.”, she said.
Adding on to it, she specified that the enmity India has is not with Pakistan or its citizen but it is against the religion and those who practice it and that the Senate must send a message. “the Senate of Pakistan must send a message: if any hand reaches toward us, then the symbol of their power—the Red Fort of Delhi—will witness a bloodshed that its walls have never seen, and its ramparts will testify to it for centuries to come,” said Palwasha.
In the end, she also cleared the air by stating that the enmity is not towards the citizens of India.
As of 30th April, social media platforms like Instagram have taken down the accounts of Pakistani actors and musicians including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar and many more. A legal request was sent to Meta post which, the accounts were disabled for India.
