On June 18, 2025, Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a travel advisory for its citizens visiting or living in Iran and Israel amid escalating Middle East tensions. The advisory urges residents to stay indoors, remain in contact with embassies, and complete evacuation registration.
Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a public advisory on 18 June 2025, for its nationals residing or wishing to travel to Iran and Israel, referring to the ongoing & rising unpredictability in the Middle Eastern Region. The alert comes as concerns grow over the declining security environment in the area.
In its official statement released Tuesday, the ministry urged all Nepali citizens in the affected countries to exercise caution, remain indoors as much as possible, and maintain regular contact with Nepal’s diplomatic missions. Citizens have also been asked to avoid non-essential travel and to stay informed about any instructions issued by local authorities.
The advisory particularly highlights the importance of preparedness to combat any unforeseen situation. Nepalis are encouraged to identify nearby shelters, bunkers or safe spaces that can be used in case of missile attacks or civil unrest.
To assist communication in case of emergency evacuations, the Foreign Ministry has launched a voluntary registration system for citizens presiding in Iran or Israel. Officials say this step will allow quicker coordination should the situation deteriorate.
Nepal manages its diplomatic engagement with Iran through its embassy in Doha, while its embassy in Tel Aviv handles affairs in Israel. Both missions have been placed on heightened alert and are offering consular support, emergency assistance, and updates via official social media and websites.
The ministry has also advised families of those abroad to remain in regular contact and stay updated through verified channels. While the government continues to monitor the situation closely, it has reassured the public that further necessary steps will be taken as per requirement to ensure the safety of its citizens.
This travel advisory is part of Nepal’s ongoing efforts to proactively safeguard its nationals during periods of international conflict or crisis.
