India set to face Sri Lanka in the Tournament opener. Colombo will be the lone battleground for Pakistan. Bengaluru to host the final encounter.
It was in 2023 when a Cricket World Cup was hosted by India. It was the Men’s tournament which was won by the Australians defeating hosts India in a heart-breaking finale at Ahmedabad. After a gap of 2 years, India is set to host another 50-over World Cup but this time, it’s for Women.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the much-awaited Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 fixtures where 8 teams will battle it out for the ultimate glory. While Bengaluru, Vishakhapatnam, Indore & Guwahati are the Indian cities selected this time to host the matches. All of Pakistan’s games along with some other matches will be played at Colombo, this includes the tense match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on October 5.
This tournament will mark it’s beginning with India hosting Sri Lanka at Bengaluru on the last day of September. Indore’s Holkar stadium will witness another chapter of the Trans-Tasman rivalry as Defending Champions Australia will lock horns against New Zealand on October 1. This tournament will be played in a Round-Robin format where a team will play seven matches, each match against a different team. A total of 28 matches set to be played during the league stage.
ICC has also announced the semi-finals & finals venues. While Bengaluru will host the second semi-final on October 30 & the final encounter, the first semi-final will either be hosted in Guwahati or Colombo on October 29. Even the final will be played at Colombo if Pakistan manages to qualify for the final match. The Final Showdown is scheduled on November 2.
This will be for the first time in Women’s Cricket World Cup history where West Indies won’t be a part of this tournament. The 2022 World Cup Semi-finalists failed to grab up a spot during the World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year. Pakistan and Bangladesh were the two teams which grabbed the remaining spots for this marquee tournament.
