South Africa snatched a thrilling three-wicket win over India in the Women’s World Cup on Thursday. Nadine de Klerk was the star girl of the night, guiding her side to a match-winning unbeaten 84 runs.
Chasing a target of 252, South Africa were in early trouble. The Indian bowlers struck regularly, keeping the pressure on. But De Klerk changed the mood completely. She tried to release the pressure from South Africa. Every time India thought they had a chance, she hit back harder.

India’s total was built around Richa Ghosh’s brilliant counterattack. Coming in at 102 for 6, she played one of the best knocks of her career (94 off 77 deliveries). Her aggressive approach turned the tide after India’s top order collapsed. Later on, Sneh Rana joined the party; she helped India post 251.

The total looked competitive, but South Africa’s calm chase spoiled India’s plans. Laura Wolvaardt composed 70 to set up the innings. De Klerk then took over, finishing the job in the 49th over.
It was a night of mixed emotions for India. Ghosh’s heroics gave them hope, but the bowlers couldn’t hold their nerve. South Africa, on the other hand, proved their grit once again, sealing two crucial points and a memorable win in Vizag.
