Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant and secretary, Vedika Prakash Shetty, was arrested by Juhu Police on 8th July for allegedly embezzling about Rs. 76 Lakh from the actor. She has been charged with criminal breach of trust and aggravated cheating.
Alia Bhatt’s former personal assistant and secretary, Vedika Prakash Shetty, has been arrested by the Juhu Police on 8th of July after an FIR was launched against her earlier in January this year. Soni Razdan, Alia’s mother and the director of her production house, Eternal Sunshine Production Pvt. Ltd., lodged this complaint that Shetty had allegedly misappropriated funds from both the firm and Alia personally.
According to the FIR, Shetty had worked as Alia’s Personal Assistant as well as her Secretary, where she was responsible for managing her professional and personal affairs and was also involved in making financial decisions, whenever deemed necessary. Allegedly, Vedika Shetty attempted to misappropriate funds under the name of Alia’s production company, Eternal Sunshine Pvt. Limited.
Soni claimed that Shetty had allegedly stolen money from both the production and Alia through fraudulent means. She claimed that Shetty would print out fake bills and get the money deposited in accounts linked to her.
The FIR report provides details about the funds that Shetty allegedly transferred into multiple accounts as well as the hefty amount that was spent by her on luxury items, including an iPad and an iPhone.
Vedika Prakash Shetty has now been charged under Section 316(4) (Criminal Breach of Trust by Clerk or Servant) and 318(4) (Aggravated Cheating) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This case is currently under investigation by the Mumbai Police.
