In a significant boost to pilgrim safety, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated the state-of-the-art Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at the cave shrine in Reasi District. This cutting-edge facility is designed to enhance the security and monitoring of the millions of devotees undertaking the arduous pilgrimage to the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.
Built at a cost of approximately ₹20 crore, the ICCC is equipped with a vast network of 700 high-tech CCTV cameras strategically placed across the shrine area. These cameras incorporate advanced features such as gesture recognition, facial recognition, and PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) capabilities, enabling real-time surveillance and rapid response mechanisms.
The ICCC will serve as a central hub where a joint team from the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and various security agencies will continuously monitor key areas, including pilgrim entry points, movement along the track, critical infrastructure, and service provider activities.
“This integrated system marks a new era in technology-driven security management for the Vaishno Devi Yatra,” stated LG Sinha during the inauguration.”It will provide greater situational awareness, faster response times, and an enhanced sense of safety for all devotees.”
The initiative stems from comprehensive security reviews and aims to streamline communication and coordination among all stakeholders involved in managing the pilgrimage. Officials emphasised that the ICCC will also play a crucial role in preventing impersonation, monitoring unauthorised access, and ensuring the smooth flow of pilgrims, contributing to a truly seamless and secure spiritual journey.
