A fatal blaze at Iraq’s shopping mall led to the loss of several innocent lives, according to reports. Around 60 individuals have lost their lives in the devastating blaze.

On Thursday, a fierce blaze in Iraq’s shopping complex claimed multiple innocent lives. The hypermarket is situated in Al-Kut City, Iraq. According to the reports, the governor of the Wasit Province, Mohammed al-Miyahi, was cited on Thursday.
The reason that led to the massive fire remains unknown, but the initial probe will be announced within the next 48 hours, according to the governor. Although lawsuits have been filed against the owner of the building and the mall.

The visuals that surfaced online show that the fire had engulfed a huge portion of the five-storey building. The firefighting units rushed to the spot to douse the fire.
There are numerous video clips flooding online where visuals of the building engulfed in fire are to be seen, whereas some clips show that there is a small group of survivors on the terrace of the shopping complex.
Firefighters were able to rescue a few people. The search lasted for quite a long time. The identities of some bodies remain unidentified.
According to the governor, the preliminary investigation report should be expected in the next 48 hours. He expressed his feelings and mentioned that the tragedy came as a major shock and a serious review of all the safety measures would take place.
