Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami has matched up against the European champions of this season, Paris Saint-Germain, in the Round of 16. Messi moved from PSG in 2023 to join the MLS club, which is owned by the English legend David Beckham, on a free transfer. On Monday, Miami had a 2-2 tie against the Brazilian side Palmeiras to finish second in the table with 5 points.
PSG sat at the top of Group B after defeating another MLS side, Seattle Sounders FC, by 2-0 in their last match on the same day. The whole team is in form, as recently they crushed Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final, with a scoreline of 5-0.
Jordi Alba expressed his pride in the team and acknowledged the challenge of facing a top side like PSG. He noted that, in his view, the French club is currently playing the best football in Europe. While admitting the difficulty of the upcoming match, he said the team would do their best to compete. Miami is lined up for a clash with PSG on Sunday, June 29.
