Delhi Police have busted a fake cops gang on Tuesday in the national capital. Police have successfully arrested the eight fake cops who were a part of this notorious gang. The gang had recently robbed an insurance office in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar. Delhi Police have recovered the stolen items from the possession of the accused.

The eight gang members posed as officers from the Special Staff Unit (SSU), Delhi Police raided an insurance office in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area, where they carried out a robbery. A complaint regarding the incident was logged, after which the police began their investigation.

According to police, during their investigation, they found a CCTV footage in which there were four people disguised as the SSU cops from Delhi Police, who entered the insurance office and robbed the owner, Salman. In the name of an investigation, the fake cops allegedly seized Salman’s laptop. The company owner was then forcibly dragged into the gang’s Hyundai Venue Car, where he was physically assaulted, and then extorted an amount of Rs. 1.5 lakh. The victim, Salman, was extorted and assaulted under a false threat of implicating him in a fake insurance case.

Police busted five out of eight gang members on the same night, while they were traveling in the same Hyundai car on the Noida Link Road. The remaining three gang members were caught later from different locations under a joint operation conducted by the East District and Laxmi Nagar Police Station.

One of the accused has been identified as Hunny Kumar, who was an ex-employee of Salman’s insurance company. According to police, Hunny allegedly had personal grudges against Salman, which resulted in a conspiracy as an act of revenge. Hunny had provided the inside details in the form of a tip to his fellow gang member, Sunny Sharma, who later gathered the other members and executed the robbery.

Delhi Police have informed about the case on their official X account. According to them, they have seized 3 mobile phones, 1 laptop, Rs. 55,000, and 2 cars, which were used by the gang members during the robbery.
