Thousands of demonstrators came together across USA with placards and chants filled with fury against USA President Donald Trump and head of newly formed DOGE ( Department of government efficiency) Elon Musk.
“They’re trying to dismantle the federal government, undermine our communities, steal from workers, and crash the economy,” Bob Reiter, president of the Chicago Federation of Labor, said at the event.
Protesters listed various issues: mass layoffs in the federal workforce, abortion restrictions, trade tariffs, the gutting of public services, mass deportations, roll back protection for transgender individuals and slash funding for health programs.
Protests were held in cities such as Washington, New York, Houston, Los Angeles, Denver, Florida and Colorado.
“They’re taking everything they can get their hands on—our health care, our data, our jobs, our services—and daring the world to stop them,” the organizers said in the statement. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.”
Why the name hands off?
Demonstrators wants to send a clear message to the Trump administration to keep their hands off their social security, keep their hands off the federal jobs, keep their hands off the agencies hands off our personal data and the list goes on. And it is interesting to note that how soon these protests are taking place after Trump took the President office.

World United
The feeling of mutual anger has transcended the American border as there are protests taking place at numerous places outside of America.Hundreds of people protested in European cities on Saturday against U.S. President Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk, following a bruising week for financial markets after Trump unveiled sweeping global tariffs.
In the German city of Frankfurt, the “Hands Off!” demonstration was organized by Democrats Abroad, the official organization of the Democratic Party for U.S. citizens living overseas.
In Berlin protesters gathered in front of a Tesla showroom.
In the British capital, a few people gathered in Trafalgar Square, the crowd chanted “Hands off Canada”, “Hands off Greenland” and “Hands off Ukraine” while listening to speeches criticising Trump.
Organisers of these protests
The event was organized by Indivisible, MoveOn and other groups which are also known for their past protests on abortion and social justice.
Their message is clear that Trump’s policies are hurting the working class and helping wealthy allies.
